Samsung makes Google Messages the primary SMS app for Galaxy S22

The latest smartphones from the Galaxy S22 range in the US come pre-installed with Google Messages as the default messaging app that supports Rich Communication Services (RCS).

Prior to that, Samsung had its own stock messaging app that was RCS compatible, and that was the default SMS app on Samsung devices in almost all regions before the move to Google Messages.

The company confirmed this in a statement, as Samsung spokesperson Jordan Guthman said: “To create the best possible messaging experience for users, with a richer, more engaging and consistent communication experience across platforms, Samsung is now making Google Messages the default choice for Galaxy S22 users across all platforms. around the world, giving them better potential.”
