Soon after the WhatsApp developer team enabled simultaneous multi-device support on the beta version, the platform also announced a new browser extension.
This add-on is called Code Verify and its sole purpose is to make sure that the web version of WhatsApp is secure enough and that the end-to-end encryption has not been hacked.
The platform says that after launching multi-device support, it is seeing an increasing number of web logins. Naturally, a web app is less resistant to attacks, so Code Verify guarantees the same level of security as a native app on Windows, iOS or Android.
The browser extension itself is quite simple, it just compares the provided hash code with the one uploaded to Cloudflare. And if all is well, the extension gives you the green light to continue your conversations.
