Backup with iTunes
Although iTunes is no longer on macOS and the backup feature is now integrated into the Mac Finder app, the software is still available for Windows. In fact, it is the recommended way to manage your iPhone or iPad using Windows PC. Here’s how to use iTunes to back up all your iOS devices.
- Download iTunes from Here
- Connect your iPhone to your Windows PC via the included Lightning cable. You may need a dongle if your iPhone has a USB-C to Lightning cable and your computer does not have a USB-C port.
- Click the phone icon in the top bar in iTunes. This will open the main phone management screen in the software.
Select This PC to backup your iPhone and save it to your computer hard drive.
Click on Backup Now to start the process of backing up your iPhone data.

If for some reason you don’t want to use iTunes, you can also try out the more feature-rich program, iMazing, to backup iPhone to Windows PC.
- Download iMazing from Here
- Connect your iPhone to your Windows PC via the included Lightning cable. Also, as mentioned above, you may need a dongle if your iPhone has a USB-C to Lightning cable and your computer doesn’t have a USB-C port.
- Launch iMazing on your computer and click Backup.
You can adjust your backup settings here, including encrypted backups, where you want to save your backup data, and more. Once everything is set up the way you want it, just click on Backup.

That’s pretty much all you need to know about backing up iPhone data to Windows PC. You can also use iCloud if you don’t want to rely on your computer. However, this requires purchasing additional iCloud storage, as the free 5GB will obviously not be enough to back up all your iPhone data.
Personally, I prefer backing up my iPhone using iTunes or iMazing because that’s the easiest and best way to do it and also because buying additional iCloud storage may seem a bit expensive for some users.
